Athletics Kenya has named the top six runners who will represent Kenya in the 2012 Olympic marathon. This is the most interesting team of runners as they are the favorite to win the gold medal (and silver and bronze..)

Each of the Kenyan marathon runners has proved to be an elite runner which was able to win major world marathons (London, Chicago).

This achievement requires to be able to prepare for peak performance the the right time. Winning the world most prestigious marathons may be financially lucrative, but bringing home an Olympic gold medal, is a honor only few marathoners have done.

The Kenyan Men Runners for the 2012 Olympic Marathon include:

  1. Wilson Kipsang;
  2. Abel Kirui ;
  3. Moses Mosop;

The Kenyan Women Runners for the 2012 London Olympic Marathon:

  1. Mary Keitany;
  2. Edna Kiplagat;
  3. Priscah Jeptoo;

Kenyan Marathon Team For The 2012 Olympic Games

“Athletics Kenya chairman Isaiah Kiplagat yesterday said Kenya’s feat at London and other recent marathons leaves no doubt about the country’s intentions to dominate the 2012 Olympic Games.

While congratulating the Kenyan runners, who grabbed the top five slots in the women’s race and top two in the men’s race in London, Kiplagat said the performance has once again left the federation spoilt for choice in identifying representatives for the London event.

Wilson Kipsang led Martin Lel in the men’s race while Mary Keitany, Edna Kiplagat, Priscah Jeptoo, Florence Kiplagat and Lucy Kabuu took the first five positions in the women’s race.

However, Kiplagat said the women runners especially in the last few races including Boston, have made it easy for them to pick the team for the London Olympic Games. “We are on course to picking the final team on April 30 and we are sure we will have a strong marathon team for London,” said Kiplagat.” See Kenyan Runner source..
